Card game called faro

Players then put their wagers on top of these cards. A special board is placed on the table, and a suit of cards (usually spades) is placed face up on the board. In casinos that stick to tradition, Faro is played at an oval table covered in green baize. Eventually, the French authorities banned Faro (Pharao) as well, but the game had already begun to spread to other parts of Europe.

It originated in France in the late 17th century as a replacement for the banned card game Basset.

This game is also known as Pharo, Pharao and Farobank. Faro is a card game played with a standard 52 card deck.
